Electricity wholesale prices increased by up to 60% in Europe with Spain having a 59.6%, Germany 50% and the Scandinavian countries a 38.4% increase, according to the VDEW.
Eberhard Meller, CEO of VDEW comments: « The electricity stock exchange reflects the expectations of the market participants which entail that the global growing demand of energy supply will increase prices in Europe. »
The VDEW also identifies the development of a closer linkage of networks in the electricity markets in Europe due to a virtually parallel development.
